Meredith’s Story: My Tannan Plastic Surgery Experience
A critical part of a patient’s research when choosing the best plastic surgeon for her should include reading reviews. Make sure to search out a real patient testimonial or two (or ten!) as well. When you read the reviews, do they truly paint a picture of the experience from start to finish at a practice? How does the doctor and her staff treat their patients (both personally and medically)? What is the care and communication like with the office staff? Is the facility technologically advanced and up-to-date? Does the practice offer the services you seek, and do they provide the highest standard of care? The best way to figure this out is research. We are excited to share this real patient testimonial video (and text) below.

My name is Meredith and I am one of Dr. Tannan’s patients. I wanted to share a little bit about my experience getting a Breast Reduction, and a [breast] lift with Liposuction on my sides.
Reasons to Consider a Breast Reduction
I was a size 34-F prior to my procedure and what led me to Dr. Tannan on this quest to try to work through this back pain that I kept having. I was struggling with like indentation lines on my shoulders from my bras. Bras were always a huge investment because you’re spending so much more to get a better quality one, being a larger size. And they’re never as cute.
I would say that it really came to a head in my late 30s where my quality of life was diminishing because I was unable to be as active as I typically am. I’m a personal trainer. I’m also a board-certified Health and Wellness coach. I used to be a kickboxer. I’ve always been very active, so not being able to do those things to the ability that I’ve been able to do in the past was really weighing on me. It was really frustrating. I was getting cortisone injections for bulging discs. Getting trigger point injections in my back because of tightness in my back. And every time I would try to strengthen my back, I would end up in this vicious cycle of muscle spasms. It was awful and it felt like I was trapped in this cycle. So after doing a lot of different things like massage therapy, chiropractic therapy, going to an orthopedic regularly for injections, I just needed to change something. I think from a young age I always thought, “you know, I probably am going to have to do this procedure at some point,” I just didn’t know when it was going to be. So, it finally was put it into my path in a way that really felt like this was the time do it.
Cosmetic Surgery Research is a Must
I did a little bit of research initially. I was planning to try to go through insurance, which might be a good path for some for some women. But not for me because I wasn’t the size that medical insurance would think is “medically necessary.” And you don’t have as much of a say in how much they’re taking of the tissue. You don’t have as much of a say of what size you’re going to be.
The doctor that I met with seemed very knowledgeable, but I don’t think he really had the bedside manner or the connection that I was looking for. I think that along that research that I was doing I realized I really wanted a female to be my doctor. I really wanted to work with a woman because I feel like she’s really going to listen, and she’s really going to take what I want into consideration.
The Tannan Plastic Surgery Experience
When I met with Dr. Tannan, it was like I was meeting with a friend. She is so personable, down-to-earth, very easy to talk to, she answered all my questions, she is just very knowledgeable. She came recommended to me actually through my psychiatrist. My psychiatrist was familiar with her I think from one of her other patients or a friend or something like that, but she had recommended her to me. I really liked her [web]site, I felt like it was very well thought through. I mean, a lot of the surgeon web sites that I did research on felt like it was a lot of information, but it wasn’t really organized in a way that made a lot of sense to me. They just led to emails of ‘info dumping.’ Whereas Dr. Tannan has everything laid out in blog posts, and she has videos, and she has all these things that I think really helped me decide that I wanted to do a consultation with her.
Like I said, she was really easy to talk to. She answered all my questions. She was fabulous. I had a conversation with my husband, and we decided that we were going to go with her.
The whole process was laid out really smoothly, very clear. At my appointments prior to the actual procedure, we listed out all the medication I was going to need, she gave me links to some of the blog posts that had links to different supplies that I might need post-op to be prepared. I definitely like to prepare ahead of time. She was able to schedule me relatively quickly. I was able to get in for this procedure I think within three-months of scheduling it. The whole process…her staff is amazing. Her anesthetist is awesome as well. I really had a great experience and the surgery went really well.
How Meredith Feels About her Breast Reduction Results
My results are awesome! I had told Dr. Tannan I wanted to be about a large B [cup] or a small C, and I think we achieved the small C. So, I’m very happy with the results and the healing has been very smooth. I feel very lucky in that regard. I listened to all of her instructions post-op. Went to my post-op appointments and you know everything. I just can’t complain about anything.
I think she just is fabulous, and she seems really passionate about what she does. I appreciate that so much.
So, I did have a breast reduction with a lift and liposuction on the sides, just to make everything proportionate and I am on the other side of it now. Looking back, it’s the best decision I ever made, so I hope this helps in your decision with possibly considering Dr. Tannan and her fabulous staff.
